Hegman Lake Show

by Bill

Hegman Lake is a great little day trip out of Ely.  It starts out with a 60 rod portage from where you park your car down to South Hegman Lake.  A short 10 – 15 min paddle to the other end brings you to a an even shorter 5 rod portage from South Hegman Lake to North Hegman Lake.

You’ll enjoy another 10 – 15 min paddle to the cliffs containing the pictographs.  They are really quite amazing to see.  Its even a great little excursion to throw on the end of one of your other trips on the echo trail.

For more information on the North Hegman Lake Pictographs you can try this link.

Thank you for Showing the Painted rocks. My Art Teacher did not know about the rocks. We were in class talking about Cave Paintings over the world and I suggested to talk about something closer to home. Thank you again. From the Twin Cities.

@Teresa: Glad you enjoyed the show… We had a great time out on Hegman that day. Let us know if your teacher was able to watch the show and what they thought of it.
We just got back from another trip and were able to see some other pictographs on Crooked Lake which is also in Minnesota in the BWCAW. We are planning to relase the show with that video in a couple weeks. I hope you enjoy watching the show. Thanks for commenting.

    Hey Brysons,
great show! I thought maybe Princess Erin would have just stayed in the canoe and had you and papa Jim carry her on the short portage! Just kidding. Hope all is well and look forward to our trip this summer.

    Lots of love,
    Sara

loved watching the Hegman video. It reminded me of my first solo trip 2 years ago, in that area.

    Thanks so much!
