Interested in a BWCACAST DVD?

Posted on 03 January 2009 by Bill

We are toying with the idea of producing a DVD showcasing the first season of BWCACAST.  There is a bit of a cost involved to have them made, so we are looking for some feedback.  We’d love to hear what your thoughts are on the subject.

Would you buy a BWCACAST DVD for $15.00

How long did it take to get to Knife Lake when you initially put in on this trip? Looked like a good day to stay close to a fire and have a good book to read.

    Thanks Bill!

    Bill,
I think this would be a fantastic idea…definitely a great gift for outdoorsy folks…and possibly an inspiration for travel to the Boundary Waters!!!!
    Hugs,

I really dont know how long it takes to produce a bwcacast show, but I do think for a cd version, a longer format with lots more of the scenery versus the narrating parts. The show excellant as they are, are more like clips (7-11 min.) vs. (30-60min.)shows. I dont know how much you edit out of your clip before putting they online. My thought is use the clip versions online to watch for free like you got now; but for the cd version, make it extended (30-60 mins) like a real show so that people will have more to watch that they have’nt already seen online. Now thats a good deal and gives you new footage to watch when you get you cd in the mail. The anticipation to see it would be increased as would your sales for the cd versions. Just a thought Bill. Sincerely, Tony & Kat

    Hi Tony,

It takes me around 3 – 4 hours to create the average 7 – 11 min show. There isn’t much that I cut out that is quality video. I do at times leave out some video that is shot out the front of the canoe. I feel that after a while, once you’ve seen one lake shore full of trees, you’ve seen them all. I could be wrong taking this stance, but I try to keep the videos as captivating as possible. If I find a group of viewers that would like a longer show I may be able to do so by reusing video from my current shows to make one longer piece. We’ll have to see how that goes. :)

I’d buy a DVD for $15.00 if it had all the videos you have on the site now, for sure!

Hey guy’s! My name’s Sandler. I have been enjoying the vidpodcast for some time now. I live in Terre Haute, Indiana. I lived in Ely in 1999-2000 and your show takes me back everytime. I make it up there around twice a year. My friends and i did the complete pow wow hiking trail last september. We put in on lake 1 and went through to lake 3. We hid the canoe and then hopped on the pow wow between lake 3 and horseshoe. It was great. I’d love to see a hiking episode. I also would love to get a complete episode collection, so the DVD is a great idea to me! I’d love to grab a pint with ya next time i’m up in that area! Hope to see some more great footage soon! Keep’em coming!

    Hi Sandler,

Thanks for commenting. We have one hiking episode up so far going into Angleworm Lake, you can check it out here. We are hoping to do another this fall. So nice to hear you enjoy the show. Have a great week.
